Dunbrody
Abbey, Visitor Centre and Maze.
One
of the largest abbeys in Ireland, which was built in 1210
as a Cistercian Monastery.
Founded by Herve De Montmorency on the instructions of
Strongbow it flourished until approximately 1539 when
Henry VIII, assisted by Thomas Cromwell, instigated the
Dissolution of the Monasteries. |

Emigrant Ship, New Ross.
A full size replica of the three
masted barque, built in Quebec, Canada for William Graves
of New Ross in 1845.
A tall ship of the famine era used by those emigrating
from Ireland in the 19th Century.

Duncannon Fort and Beach
This star shaped fortress is noted for its dry moat,
exterior walls, lower gun battery and ramparts. Built
in 1586 in the expectation of an attack on the area by
the Spanish Armada.
Duncannon Beach is one of the loveliest beaches in the
area. |

Hook
Lighthouse, Hook Head.
Built in the early 13th Century
Hook Lighthouse was used as a navigation aid to guide
ships into Waterford Harbour.
One of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world
it is situated on the Hook Peninsular - climb the 115
steps to the parapet and view the magnificent sea and
landscapes. |
